The design
Al Howard & Graham Papworth.
Course architects Al Howard and Graham Papworth shaped what is now considered one of the finest layouts on the Central Coast. The brief was simple: use the natural topography of the property — sloping fairways, native gum bushland, a working creek — and build a course that rewards thoughtful play rather than punishing brute strength.
The result is a par-72 championship layout where the same hole rarely plays the same way twice. Wind off the ridge, course conditions, pin placements — they all matter. Locals know the 9th and 12th well; first-time visitors usually remember the 18th.

For Central Coast players
Why locals call it the regional best.
A real championship layout
Most Central Coast public courses are short, par-3 / par-60-style layouts. The Springs is a full 18-hole par-72 — a course you can spend a season getting to know.
On-site practice and tuition
Our PGA Head Professional runs private and group lessons. Driving range and short-game practice areas open daily.
Restaurant on the 18th
The Sitting Duck Restaurant sits at the top of the course — Friday-to-Sunday lunch, Central Coast's #1 reviewed restaurant. Easy place to finish a round.
Common questions
Central Coast golf FAQ.
What makes a golf course 'premier' on the Central Coast?
+
For us it's three things: a full 18-hole championship layout (par 72), a course designed by recognised architects (Al Howard and Graham Papworth), and on-site facilities — pro shop, restaurant, function space. The Central Coast has a lot of public courses; few combine all three.
Is the course suitable for beginners?
+
Yes. The layout is challenging but fair — there are short tees on most holes, and the cart paths make navigation easy. We also run beginner programs through our PGA Head Professional, including a six-week 'Get Into Golf' series for $300.
Where is the course located?
+
1080 Peats Ridge Road, Peats Ridge — in the heart of the Central Coast hinterland. We're 20 minutes from Gosford, around 25 from Wyong and Erina, and an hour from both Sydney and Newcastle.
Can I take golf lessons here?
+
Yes. Our PGA Head Professional Grant Williams runs private coaching from 60-minute sessions through to full-day on-course tuition. Bookings via the pro shop on 02 4373 1522 or golf@the-springs.com.au.
What's the dress code?
+
Standard golf attire — collared shirt, golf shoes, no denim on course. Hire equipment is available from the pro shop (limited stock — best to call ahead if you need a full set).
